Hendersonville 2 - Smyrna 1

"Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success." On this beautiful and pleasant April night the Field of Dreams, home of Hendersonville Soccer, played host to District 9 opponent Smyrna High School. The Bulldogs found a newly recharged and highly motivated Commando squad. A couple of District loses was all that Hendersonville needed to gather their thoughts and recoup; back to basics if you will, was the apparent theme of the night. The first goal of the evening came by way of a Sutton Cash corner kick, directly to the unsuspecting foot of a Smyrna player, ricocheting into the net. Nate Parker made it 2-0 early in the second half. Smyrna had only one answer to the relentless defensive efforts by Hendersonville's back four, this came with some 20 minutes left in the game. Final score Hendersonville 2 - Smyrna 1

Wilson Central 2 - Hendersonville 1

In sports, any sport you have to go out and play your heart out. You have to hope that you have trained hard and that you bring your "A" game to the field, diamond, rink or track, each and every time you square off against any and all opponents. By doing this, you tip the balance in your favor... somewhat. You make the passes, you take the shots, you score the goals. Well, in theory, that's the way it's supposed to go. When things aren't going the way you expect them to, you would hope that at least you catch a few breaks. Tonight's game against undefeated District 9 opponent Wilson Central seemed to be just one of those games; where you couldn't catch a break, not one! Hendersonville took plenty of shots, all but one sailed to the right, to the left or above the goal, three of those shots on goal were stopped by the Wildcat keeper and one shot by Sutton Cash did find the back of the net for the Commando lone score of the night. Hendersonville now finds itself in a very unfamiliar place with two district loses and just three district games left; next one being this coming Friday against Smyrna at home. Final score Wilson Central 2 - Hendersonville 1.

Hendersonville 2 - Ooltewah 1

April 14th., With weather hovering around record "nasty", our Commando team took the field seemingly unaware of conditions around them; undeterred by the wind, the rain and the cold, they focused not on their surroundings but on the matter at hand. Two scores was all that was needed, and both came mid way through the first half. Patrick Kelly recipient of a Joseph Dallas assist for the first goal for Hendersonville and some three minutes later Nate Parker (assisted by Sutton Cash) made it two - nil. The Owl lone score came in the 16th minute of the second half. Anyone wishing to predict where the Commando attack will come from, will find themselves hard pressed to do so, for this weekend it seemed to come from different sources. Final score Hendersonville 2 - Ooltewah 1. The Hendersonville Classic's Offensive MVP award went to Sutton Cash and the Defensive MVP honors to Paco Hernandez.

Hendersonville 2 - Cleveland 0

Friday the 13th proved to be not so "unlucky" for the Commandos as they faced Cleveland in the second game of the 2007 edition of the Hendersonville Classic. High octane soccer provided for a challenging 80 minutes for both sides, as neither squad was willing to let down on the pressure applied from the opening whistle. The first goal of the night came in the 20th minute of the first half as TJ Brown's perfectly placed ball was received by teammate John Sheets' flawlessly timed jump as his header went in for the score. With time quickly running out in the second half, Sutton Cash took a bullet of a shot that rebounded off the Blue Raider keeper and into the foot of Hendersonville's Jordan Johnson. Final score - Hendersonville 2 - Cleveland 0.

Hendersonville splits at the Southeastern Challenge Cup

April 6 - 7th. There was little if any rest for the Hendersonville Commandos during their spring break as they traveled south to the Southeastern Challenge Cup in Atlanta racking up split decisions as they dropped Friday night's overtime thriller vs. host Parkview (GA) H.S. by a final of 2-1, but taking Saturday's game vs. Centennial (GA) H.S. by a final mark of 2-0. According to sources close to yours truly, it was apparent to all present that the traveling Commandos were on a mission that gave everyone quiet the thrills with such demonstration of skills by Sutton Cash, Grant Wood and TJ Brown.
