Hendersonville advances to State Quarter Final Game

Hendersonville 3 - Ravenwood 1. Hendersonville found itself in a very unfamiliar situation tonight, in territory visited just a couple of times this year, as the visiting Ravenwood scored the first goal of the night with just slightly over four minutes lapsed in the game. The cool, calm and collected home team kept to their game plan and wouldn't allow their cages to be rattled. The answer came 5 minutes later, as they worked their magic through a very challenging opponent. Two more goals were added by The Lady Commandos prior to half time, and that's what the score board read at the end of the game. This victory earns Hendersonville a trip to Chattanooga this coming week to play in the quarter final game vs. Riverdale.

Hendersonville repeats as Region 5-AAA Champions!

"Come rain, come shine, come sleet or snow"... well, hopefully they will not have to play on sleet or snow, we can count on the Lady Commandos to deliver, just as they did tonight. A truly "team" effort was evident this evening, for it took all that and more to respond to the advances of a very skilled and poised opponent. Tonight's win earns Hendersonville the right to play against Ravenwood at home Saturday night in a Sectional match, winner of this will advance to the State Tournament in Chattanooga. Final score: Hendersonville 3 - Clarksville 0.

Hendersonville 7 - Rossview 0 in Region 5-AAA Semis

Tonight's match-up would send one of the two teams on to the Region 5-AAA final game, the other team would have to wait until next year! The later would just not fit into our Lady Commando's plan, and an early exit would be unthinkable. Rossview brought with them a very determined group of young ladies and hung tight for the majority of the first half, but in the end Hendersonville offensive attack was just to much for the Lady Hawks. Six different players (Anthony, Govea, Sanchez, Gonsewski, Foutch and Gregory) accounted for tonight's seven goals. Thursday evening, Hendersonville travels to Clarksville High School to play for the title of Region 5-AAA champions.

Hendersonville Repeats as District 9-AAA Champions!

Despite the rainy, windy cold weather, the Lady Commandos defended their District 9-AAA against Beech High School in what turned out to be a repeat in score as well. Hendersonville was 5 better than the Lady Bucks for the second time this year, and once again, Hendersonville held Beech scoreless. Indeed, it is sweet to repeat! At the 13th minute Whitney Salley assisted Marcela Sanchez to chalk up the first score of the game. Additional offensive production tonight came by way of Sherry-Lynn VanEs (unassisted), Allison Griffin (Marcela Sanchez, assist), Marcela Sanchez (free kick) and Kate Anthony (unassisted). Next game for Hendersonville is Tuesday, October 24th at the Field of Dreams in Hendersonville against Rossview (Clarksville)

Hendersonville Honors Seniors... and their parents!

If just for a few minutes, we were reminded tonight of the effort and sacrifices that parents make in support of their daughters' dreams. Hendersonville High School honored their seniors tonight at halftime of the last game of the regular season. Present and accounted for were Tyler and Kathy Brown (Taren), Mauricio and Monica Sanchez (Marcela), Tim and Marcia Kentner (Madison), George and Donna Williams (Kim and Kelsey), Jerry and Emili Salley (Whitney) and Gayle Anthony (Kate). Congratulations parents and thanks for the support you have provided through the years!

Hendersonville 7 - Gallatin 0

Tonight's win against the Green Wave of Gallatin puts the Hendersonville Lady Commandos in first place in regular season District 9AAA play with a perfect 6-0 record and it gives a much deserved bye in first round play in the District Tournament which begins on Saturday at Smyrna High School. For the first 28 minutes of tonight's game, Hendersonville's five shots on goal were for naught for they were skillfully deflected, stopped or frustrated by Gallatin's keeper, but with 12:31 left in the first half the fireworks started as Melissa Govea's netted herself the first of her three tonight. Following suit was Marcela Sanchez as she herself had yet another hat trick and as in games past, Whitney Salley complimented with the final score of the night.

Hendersonville 5 - Smyrna 0

For the first 24 minutes of tonight's game, Smyrna's outstanding keeper, kept scooping up each of the many attempts by the Lady Commandos to net the first score, until Marcela Sanchez found herself the recipient of the first of her four goals, a personal best, with 15 minutes left in the first half. At the break, Hendersonville's lead was a slim 2-0, not a comfortable place to be considering that this worthy opponent's pressure was relentless throughout tonight's contest. With the score already at four to nothing, Whitney Salley contributed the final goal of the game.
