Hendersonville 5 - Beech 0

Strong and controlling play by the Lady Commando midfield allowed the forwards to do what they do best; put the ball in the back of the net! And tonight, that they did - 5 times - against cross town rival Beech. Led by Senior Marcela Sanchez's two free kick bullets, supplemented by Allison Griffin's amazing finish, Kate Woodard's header and Taren Brown's P.K. Tonights victory (5-0) places the Hendersonville High School squad in sole possession of first place in District 9 regular season play, with games left against always challenging Smyrna and unpredictable Gallatin.

Hendersonville 3 - Franklin 2

A few days ago, the local (Nashville) paper ran a story about a high school soccer team whose mission this year was to regain the respect they deserved. Anyone watching tonight's contest (Hendersonville 3 - Franklin 2) could swear that this article was written about the Lady Commandos of Hendersonville, it wasn't. If there are any doubters left out there about the resolve of the black and gold, don't! Hendersonville (Govea) netted the first goal of the contest in the 32 minute of the first half and Franklin replied just 120 seconds later. That's what the scoreboard showed at half time. Just two minutes into the second frame, Franklin found their second and final score of the night. I must confess, I do not have the time - for it doesn't matter - when Kate Anthony (Hendersonville) knotted the contest at two-all, and with some three (give or take a few seconds) minutes left in the game, Allison Griffin, put the good guys (gals) ahead for good. But the offensive effort would not have made a difference had it not been for the outstanding play put forth by the midfield and defense, add to this the 6 great saves by keeper Carley Gaskin. When you ask your team to give it their all, not to ever give up, this is the kind of effort you have in mind.

Hendersonville 1 - Brentwood 1

What do you get when two great cross-town rivals meet for their annual rumble? A great game! That was the case tonight when the Lady Commandos traveled to Brentwood for their midseason meeting with the Lady Bruins. Expectations were high from both sides, and the players came through. It was one of those games that you could actually say, "to bad someone had to loose"! but in this case, the final outcome was a draw. With just a couple of minutes into the second half, Lady Commando Taren Brown, takes a corner kick and the ball lands inside the far post, into the net! Some folks would call this a banana kick, others would call it an Olympic goal... we just call it a great kick! The equalizer from Brentwood came as the game clock showed 25:28.

Siegel 3 - Hendersonville 0

Battle wounded, the Lady Commandos entered the final game of the Katie Hunter Tournament in Oak Ridge, with less than favorable odds, but nevertheless each and every player that remained in somewhat good health took the field and gave everyone present a dose of what it is to be a Hendersonville Soccer player. Even some that at times could be seen behind the bench preparing themselves for the next call of duty, did so in remarkable spirit. This would have been one of those games that had they thrown in the towel even before game came, everyone who knew the true condition of our players, would have understood and would not have thought twice about it, but our ladies would have none of that. This afternoon's opponent threw everything but the kitchen sink at our ladies, earning in the process 5 yellow cards - including the first of the contest just 2 minutes into the game by their coach, and one red. This did not deterred our spirited young ladies from representing our school, community and themselves in a fashion worthy of a Lady Commando.

Kate, Taren, Madison, Whitney, Marcela, Kim... Jessica G., Melissa, Sami, Jessica H., Kelsie, Kelsey M., Rachel, Sherri-Lynn...Shelby, Brittni, Carly, Sarah, Allison, Jordan...Mackenzie, Courtney, Kelsey P., Jennifer... Coach D., Coach Fields and Coach Plummer.... WE ARE ALL VERY PROUD OF YOU!

Oak Ridge 3 - Hendersonville 2

Sometimes you speak volumes by saying nothing! Lady Commando goals by Sanchez and Anthony!

Hendersonville 2 - Greenville 1

Hendersonville's first tally came in the 13th minute of the game as Madison Kentner found herself one-on-one vs. Greenville's outstanding keeper. Quick decision and great heads up moves, put the ball right where it needed to be; in the back of the net! 15 minutes later the Greenville offense knotted the game at one all. These two great squads found themselves in the middle of an intense and physical game, defined by apparent desire of both teams to call this game theirs. But the constant offensive attack by the Lady Commandos throughout the last 50 minutes was just a tad bit to much for Greenville to handle for late in the 75th minute Marcela Sanchez took a pass from teammate Whitney Salley to put the game away for Hendersonville. Tonight's 9pm game will be played against host Oak Ridge High School.

Hendersonville 1 - Bowling Green 0

Just 12 minutes and 40 seconds into the first game for Hendersonville of the Katie Hunter Tournament, a "trademark" shot from Marcela Sanchez sailed passsed the outstreched hands of Bowling Green's keeper for the game's only score. Give the assist to Melissa Govea! The remainder of the game found the Lady Commandos on a constant attack; quickly frustrating any attempt by the opponents by playing textbook soccer, play after play. Tomorrow morning at 9am, Hendersonville plays Greenville.
